Tax Payment Options for Canadian Truck Owners

In previous tax years, Canadian owners had a tough time filling the form2290 online because of the limited options on how to pay their tax. As they are required to have the US bank account to pay using E-CHECK, EFTPS or CHECK in MAIL. And most of the Canadian owners do not have the US bank account, so they are left with the MONEY ORDER option. But this current tax year, from July 2018, IRS started accepting DEBIT or CREDIT CARD to pay the taxes. Now, Canadian owners can easily pay their tax due online by going to the IRS website (link is as below) by using their credit card.
Quick and easy, tax payment is done in a few minutes. Currently, IRS has authorized three (3) the payment processor that accepts debit or credit card for the tax payment.

The above payment processor varies the convenience fee. So Canadian owners can select which among the above is good for them, in term of easy access and best/ lowest convenience fee. Please take a note that the convenience fee charged by the payment processors is different from the filing fee you pay on www.form2290.com to file a form 2290 online. Tax filers get confusion most of the time, they feel like once Form 2290 was submitted online (with IRS tax payment mode by Card) that mean they are done with filing. Please also note; after submitting form 2290 online, you will require to complete the actual tax payment using one of the above-mentioned payment processors. Vice versa, if tax amount was paid in advance using the payment processor then still you need to e-file a form 2290 to complete the process.
