Reason Why You Received Notice from the IRS
Whenever we file the form 2290
and received the schedule 1, we are in a belief that everything is
perfectly done. Then all of a sudden, we will get surprised that we
received a notice from the IRS that our tax is unpaid. What
happened? What did we do wrong? Below are the reasons why you got
notice:
EFTPS
or CARD Payment option for the IRS tax
Once
we
select any of these options, we are in thinking that the IRS
will charge our bank
account or debit/credit card automatically for the tax due. But once
we check our bank account
or
credit card statement shows
no charge has been placed by the IRS.
This is because we did not use
the EFTPS website
or
card
at IRS
website to make tax
payment.
Please
take
note that if we select tax
payment mode as
EFTPS, we need to make the payment at the EFTPS website (this
does not apply to taxpayers who already have made payment in advance
through EFTPS)
https://www.eftps.gov/eftps/,
whereas
for the
CARD payment option,
we need to use
the IRS website post
submitting the form 2290 online to
complete the payment (also
does not apply to those who made payment in advance using the card on
IRS website).

Incorrect
Bank account information
If we select IRS tax payment
option as Bank Account (EFW/E-Check), we should double check that we
entered correct bank account information. IRS will not be able to
charge the bank account automatically if e-filed form 2290 with
incorrect account information. And this is the reason we receive a
notice from the IRS notifying that the tax is unpaid.
Also
some time;
We have our bank account
statement or card statement clearly shows that the tax has been
charged or paid. But for some reason, still, we receive a notice
from the IRS mentioning about unpaid tax. In this case, please call
the IRS and inform them that the tax due has already been charged
from your bank or paid by using credit/debit card. This way, they do
correct their records and we would be free from the stress!!
